If there is a feature that we have been asking to be renewed for a long time, it is the Windows file explorer. This tool is what we use to navigate through all the data and files on our hard drive so that we can access our data. The explorer has been with us since the first versions of Windows, and today it is still essential, although it is true that, in certain aspects, it is obsolete. Microsoft has been working on a revamped and modernized browser for its operating system for some time now. However, from what we have been able to see, this one is going to disappoint us.
Windows 10X is already in the RTM phase. This operating system, although initially it was going to be available for dual-screen devices, will eventually also reach single-screen devices, a very simple and optimized operating system, especially for touch devices. If everything runs its course, the first version of Windows 10X could be available to all users in the spring of next year. Therefore, the novelties that this system has included are those that we will see in its final phase. And the truth is that the new file explorer leaves a lot to be desired.

New Windows File Explorer – An Unfinished Program
The normal thing is that we imagine that the file explorer will allow us to navigate through all the storage systems of the device (internal memory, memory cards, etc.), as well as through the cloud, especially with OneDrive . However, the new version of this browser seems to only allow the latter.
The new file explorer that is coming with Windows 10X is only going to be a browser for OneDrive . We will not be able to navigate with it through the internal memory of the device, at least for now. The options that we are going to have in this file explorer will also be very limited.

Although it seemed that we were finally going to meet the successor to the classic File Explorer, Microsoft has disappointed us. Preliminary versions of this did allow to navigate through other storage units, being a much more complete explorer. However, Microsoft has removed these components at the last minute, showing a tool that, more than useful, seems incomplete.
Windows 10X, an incomplete system
Although Windows 10X has been in development for some time, it is still an incomplete operating system. And we’re not just talking about the file explorer itself, but because just three months after its release, it’s missing basic and essential features.
Windows 10X will not bring, at the moment, the support for Win32 applications , although it was promised to have it out. This functionality will arrive in the future, for 2022, through an update, but, for now, it will not be available. The same is true, for example, with other essential system applications, such as the Mail and Calendar apps.
Microsoft wants to try to fill these gaps through services such as OneDrive, for storage, or Office, for mail and calendar. Without a doubt, a fudge that will probably pay off for the company when this new “system” sees the light of day.
