A few days ago the first rumors arose about the possibility that Xiaomi would expand this family with up to three new new devices. One of them, the Redmi Note 9 5G, begins to attract attention by differentiating itself from its brothers.
The Redmi Note series is one of the most successful of the company and one of the best sellers for Xiaomi. We are facing devices that break the quality / price barrier with each model, and that many times put high-end features in the hands of the user that we find in much more expensive terminals. The first time we heard about the Redmi Note 9 5G was last June, but now, it seems that its name is gaining strength again.
An eye-catching design
Now, the Redmi Note 9 5G has been leaked on the Chinese social network Weibo, showing its design and revealing two important changes compared to the rest of the series. The first and most obvious is the rear camera, which in this device has a circular design, totally different from the rest of the terminals in the series . In addition, it has a hole in the upper left part of the screen, to house the front sensor. We have only seen this in the standard Redmi Note 9, since both the Note 9 Pro, the Note 9S or the Note 9 Pro Max, have a hole centered at the top. The source has claimed that this hole is larger than seen so far, measuring around 3.9mm in diameter. It is also believed that it could be the first in the series to feature a high screen refresh rate.
The leaked images reveal some key details such as the model number M200722C, which will feature 8GB of RAM and will work with MIUI 12 based on Android 10. The 3C certification platform recently registered a 5G terminal with the same model number and that It will feature a 22.5W fast charger, higher than the 18W of the standard Redmi Note 9. At the rear it has three cameras with a 48 megapixel main sensor.
A Redmi in China and a “POCO” for Europe?
Although the level of leaks is gradually increasing, there are still many doubts about Xiaomi’s plans to expand the Redmi Note 9 family. The most optimistic bets say that we will get out of doubts before the end of the month, since Xiaomi could have planned to unveil this and other models in the coming weeks. However, there is a curious fact, which again has to do with the model number “M2007J22G” of this Redmi Note 9 5G.
Interestingly, this phone is likely to launch under the POCO brand outside of China. The reason is that the EEC authority approved a global version of the phone that has the model number M2007J22G as a POCO device. The clues point in this sense, in that the European Economic Commission has recently certified a device with this model number under the POCO label.
