How to Set Alarms on the Apple Watch, Is It Reliable?

Set Alarms on the Apple Watch

The Apple Watch can be our greatest ally in many aspects such as sports training, but also when setting alarms that can be used either to remind you of something or as an alarm clock. Precisely in this article we will tell you everything about this functionality present in watches since the first versions of watchOS.

Creating alarms in watchOS

Setting a new alarm on the Apple Watch is really simple, since you will only have to follow these steps:

  • Open the Alarms application on the clock.
  • Click on “Add alarm”
  • Press the number of the hours and with the digital wheel adjust it.

  • Do the same as in the previous step, but with the minutes.
  • If you want to activate or deactivate the possibility of postponing it when it rings, you can do so in the “Postpone” option.
  • Click on “Adjust”.

Easy and fast, but if you still want to go one step further you can ask Siri with the voice command “set an alarm at X hour”.

It should be noted that it is possible to have the same alarms as on the iPhone if you configure it before in the respective iOS Clock app. You should also make sure in the iPhone Watch app that the “See iPhone alerts” option is active within the clock settings.

Modify and delete alarms

Editing the alarms or deleting them entirely is just as easy as creating them. Also in this case you can tell Siri to delete all alarms, but if you want to do it manually you just have to follow this guide:

  • Open the Watch Alarms app.
  • Find the alarm you want to modify.
  • Click on “Change time” if this is what you want and if you want to delete it click on “Delete” at the bottom.

If you have the Sleep Mode options configured in the Health app and you sleep with the clock, it will wake you up and will be guided by the alarms established in these settings. You can, of course, skip an alarm if on any occasion you do not want it to sound and for this you must follow these steps:

  • Open the Alarms app.
  • Click on the configured Sleep alarm.
  • Click on “Skip tonight”.

Is it reliable as an alarm clock?

Let’s be more or less lazy, most of us have the alarm clock as our main enemy at the beginning of the day. There really is no clear answer to the question asked, nor is there any kind of alarm clock. Everything will depend on the person, but even on the degree of deep sleep that is being achieved at the time of sounding the alarm.

The Apple Watch in sleep mode wakes us up with slight vibrations that are increasing in order to really wake up. Normal alarms also have vibration and audible options, although with slight differences. In my particular case, I have to admit that on most occasions I have woken up without a problem, if not 99%. That 1% in which I have fallen asleep despite the alarm going off does not really have so much origin in the alarm clock of the Watch as such, but in the level of fatigue that I had that day.

Be that as it may, we always recommend setting a second alarm for emergencies of this type. After all, nobody likes to be late to places.
