Cyberpunk 2077 has a Security Problem When Using Mods on PC

You could say that Cyberpunk 2077 does not stop growing dwarfs. Despite the recent and important patch released by CD Projekt Red, the official support for mods is not working as it should and the company itself advises that for the moment it would be better not to use them.

Avoid Cyberpunk 2077 mods

Cyberpunk 2077

Along with solving some major and very annoying Cyberpunk 2077 issues, one of the draws of the latest patch was the official support for mods. Thanks to this feature, users could load those packs created by the user community that allow the original title to be changed to a greater or lesser extent. So, for example, you could use new textures or other elements that modify everything related to the visual section.

However, the joy did not last long and CD Projekt Red itself published a message for its PC users where they warned that for security reasons it would be convenient not to use these mods and customizations for the moment. Because this security problem in .DLL files could allow an attacker to execute code  within the PC itself without permission from the user.

Indeed, not being able to use mods is a nuisance for many users . Because these customizations have been and continue to be a very interesting way to extend the life and interest in a title by allowing certain licenses to the community that creates them. If now they cannot be used for security reasons, it is likely that those who decided to continue betting on the game despite their problems will find a new obstacle that ends up forcing them to stop playing.

And it is logical if this ends up happening, because the title seems to have gone from bad to worse since its launch. Because within days of releasing this first big patch there was also a major issue that “broke” the title. Fortunately, it was solved more quickly, but the feeling of not knowing what will happen never despairs.

February: key month for Cyberpunk 2077

Seeing how the panorama around Cyberpunk 2077 is, it is clear that the month of February could be key to much of the future of the game. It will be during these next few weeks a new patch that is expected to be larger and more important than patch 1.1 already released.

If CD Projekt Red manages to succeed in this new opportunity it will have, the title may take off a bit and achieve the results that it really deserved. But if not, then it is clear that many players will end up giving up and going to something else. Because there are many options and some equally interesting or more for depending on what type of user. So continuing to be determined to play a title that does not finish settling and where fixing something can mean breaking something else does not make much sense.

However, we are going to give it one more chance. But while you stay with the idea that if you are one of those who usually download and install each mod that seems interesting, better not do it. And if for any reason you decide that it is, try to do it solely and exclusively from reliable sources.
