Android: How to See the Speed of the Processor and Cores

The processor of our mobile is the central axis of all the internal functioning of our mobile. As has always happened in the PC universe, having its performance controlled can be positive when it comes to detecting problems or failures in the power of the device. Luckily, we can consult this information on Android natively and without downloading any application.

Before continuing, it must be taken into account that Google offers this information on Android, but it is each manufacturer separately, and taking into account the different layers of customization, who decide whether or not to keep this information in view. The truth is that we will not have problems in seeing the use of the CPU of our mobile in real time, in those very clean layers that touch Android stock. If this option is not available natively in our terminal, plan B will install a third-party app from Google Play, of the hundreds that are destined to display this information.

How the processor performs

The information on the use that the mobile makes of the processor is vital to know that everything works like silk. Let us remember that the brain of our terminal has several nuclei and that not all of them serve the same purpose. In this example, we see a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, an eight-core 5G chip. In order to see its performance in real time, we will have to go to Settings / Phone information. Later we will see various information about the system, but the option that interests us is below and is called “Real-time data from the CPU”.

Frequencies in real time

Once inside we can see how the CPU and all its cores are working in real time. In this example, the Snapdragon 765G has 1 main processor, Kryo 475 Prime (Cortex-A76) at 2.4 GHz, a secondary core Kryo 475 Gold (Cortex-A76) at 2.2 GHz and six tertiary cores Kryo 475 Silver (Cortex-A55 ) at 1.8 GHz. This means that the processor always balances necessary performance with energy efficiency. For this reason, the primary core will have more activity when extra power is needed.

In the image on the left we can see the smartphone calm, without applications in the background. In the image on the right, multitasking is open with games and other apps in the background. With this information, we can know if the processor is performing at the expected level. In addition, in case of having malware, we can check if the use of the CPU is skyrocketing, even if we barely have processes open in the background.
