Mozilla Firefox is, as we know, one of the most popular and used browsers worldwide. It is present in multiple operating systems and devices. It has a large number of extensions, features and functions that we can use. However, something they constantly emphasize is looking for improvements related to security and privacy. We already know that they are very important factors for users. In this article we explain how to use the new site isolation feature in Firefox .
How to enable the site isolation feature in Firefox
As we have indicated, Mozilla’s browser has always had functions and features at the forefront to try to ensure that security and privacy are present. It is precisely when surfing the Internet when we can suffer the most problems of this type.

This time it is the Fission feature, which offers the functionality to isolate third party sites and iframes in the web browser. In this way, it improves both the privacy and the security of the users.
At the moment this feature is only available for Firefox Nightly, which as we know is the version of Mozilla’s browser where the changes arrive first. We will explain how to activate it in this version, although soon it will also be available for the stable edition and can be activated anyway.
The first thing we have to make sure is that we have the latest version. At least you need to have Firefox Nightly 82.0a1. Once we make sure that we have the browser correctly updated, we must carry out the following steps:
In the address bar we must execute about: config . He will ask us for permits and we must give him to accept the risks. A previous step to enter the configuration.
Later we must look for fission.autostart . By default we will see that it comes in False, so we just change it to True. Basically what it does is activate the function.

Once this is done we have to go to the search bar again and in this case search for gfx.webrender.all . As in the previous case it will come by default in False and we simply change it to True.
Once we have done these two previous steps, we simply restart the browser for the changes to take effect. From there it should already be available to use this feature.
How to see if Fission is enabled in Firefox
We can see in a simple and fast way if this function called Fission is activated correctly in Mozilla Firefox. To do this, you simply have to open any web page in the browser and move the mouse cursor over the tab.

We will see that, as it appears in the image above that we show, F appears next to the name of the site. That means that Fission is working correctly.
Keep in mind that Mozilla Firefox will work in the same way as before activating this function. We will not notice any changes when starting web pages. Of course, this tool will consume some more resources in the system. However, it should not be something that is perceptible to the user.
We can also navigate normally, without making use of this feature. For this we have to go to the menu and we will see the option New Non-Fission Window . We simply have to click and a new Firefox browser window will open but this time without using the Fission feature.

Ultimately, by following these steps we mentioned, we can activate the isolation function of third-party websites and iframes in Mozilla Firefox. As we have seen, you simply have to follow a series of simple steps. In this way we will ensure that privacy and security when browsing are present and we do not have any problems. We already know that they are two factors that must always be in the foreground in all types of operating systems and devices that we use.
