And said and done, although at that time we fell short pointing only to Microsoft and its Xbox Game Pass, since the Koreans have wanted to take everything and not leave anything out. So now we have it here and its name is Gaming Hub.
No consoles or endless downloads
It was within the Summer Game Fest 2022 when Samsung decided to make official through a trailer (which you can see just above) its strategy to turn its televisions into game centers without the need for consoles, additional hardware and downloads of several tens of gigabytes. The cloud has come to expand video games everywhere and one of the largest television manufacturers already has a plan so as not to be left behind.
Samsung Gaming Hub is nothing more than an application for your Smart TVs in which we can concentrate all our activity around video games . Not only the machines that we have connected to the television, but also direct access to the most popular services. At the moment they have announced full compatibility with Xbox and its Game Pass, but also with the streaming game from any console we have at home, be it Xbox One or Xbox Seris X | S, as well as Geforce Now and Stadia, from Google. Another one appears on the screen, such as Utomik, but in our country we don’t have it available, so we won’t have to worry much about it either.
Now, every time an improvement as important as this arrives, it is normal for the owners of a Samsung Smart TV to wonder if theirs will also be compatible and will be able to launch any of these services. Well, the truth is that on this occasion, the list of models capable of playing streaming games is somewhat… scarce. Behold.
What models are compatible with Samsung Gaming Hub?
If we look at the information published by Samsung in the last hours, only the 2022 models will be able to run this application within their televisions. At the moment they have not explained much more, so if you have a TV from last year, or bought in 2022 that belongs to previous ranges, you are going to be left out of this advance. Indeed, it sounds strange that they have made such a sharp cut, but it is what these innovations have, that for some reason other previous hardware does not seem prepared to support them. Or maybe yes?
Looking at Samsung’s 2022 Smart TV catalogue , only a total of 18 models seem likely to sign up for this Gaming Hub , so any previous ones are officially unable to do so. So if you are among the lucky ones, you have to wait for summer, which is when it will arrive, since you look for a wireless controller to pair it with the TV and start the game in the living room. Despite the fact that cloud gaming has more detractors than fans among hardcore gamers , everything indicates that its expansion is unstoppable. Don’t you think?
