Plesk is software that we can install on a computer or server. It is used to manage a web hosting through a graphical interface, with different icons and functions that we can use for administration. This allows making changes, configurations and queries in a simple way, without the need for extensive knowledge in technical aspects. In this article we explain how to install Plesk and configure it correctly.
What Plesk offers
The normal thing is that any hosting provider brings a management panel installed. It is what allows us to manage the content, make changes, modify aspects for our site in short. Sometimes that panel can be too simple and users are looking for something more complete.

An interesting option is Plesk . It has a wide range of possibilities that we can take advantage of. We are going to see what are the most important points that it offers at the level of domains, email and also server configurations.
Domains
From Plesk we will be able to have a series of functions to better manage our domains in a simple and graphical way. We can create redirects, install SSL certificates to give greater reliability to the page, enable support for certain technologies such as Python or Perl …
It also allows us to easily create FTP accounts, manage access through SSH, configure DNS, protect directories with a password or create backup copies. We can do all this with the majority of management panels of this type, but in the case of Plesk everything is more visible and simple.
It even allows us to obtain usage statistics, limit bandwidth resources, migrate domains, as well as install applications in WordPress, Joomla or Drupal, which are some of the most used content managers today.
Plesk also allows you to manage email and everything that includes this important service for our website. It allows you to create and manage accounts, create auto responses, limit the traffic that enters or leaves, as well as create redirects.
We can also improve the security of e-mail, thanks to the options that it allows to configure to avoid Spam, antivirus or create signatures. We can manage all this easily from your panel.
Server settings
Another aspect to keep in mind is that from Plesk we will be able to perform some configurations and actions directly from the server . It allows us to restart or turn off the server or any component, restrict access, manage addresses, create backup copies to support …
We can also manage migrations and transfers, change the date or make any Apache or PHP configuration.

How to install Plesk
We can install Plesk on different operating systems on our servers. We can configure it on a computer with Linux and also with Windows. Both operating systems will be compatible and we can make use of the options that we have mentioned above.
First of all we have the possibility to install Plesk on a server with Linux . We can make use of the installation in a single click, as they explain to us from their official page . It is the simplest and fastest process.
We have to make sure that the server we are using is compatible with Plesk and later we access the server through SSH, with root user and the necessary credentials. You have to execute the following command:
# sh <(curl https://autoinstall.plesk.com/one-click-installer || wget -O – https://autoinstall.plesk.com/one-click-installer)
The installation process will start automatically, which can take more than half an hour. The installer will be in charge of adding the latest version available, with all the news and corrections that may exist.
Once we have it correctly installed, the next step will be to put the URL that corresponds to the address of the server. There we will see a box to put the username and password. For example, the URL would be: webpage.com:8443.
In the case of Windows Server we have to access the server through RDP, download and install the file and start the Command Prompt. We have to change the directory where we have saved the file and execute the command:
plesk-installer.exe –select-product-id = panel –select-release-latest –installation-type = recommended
To access once we have installed it we have to do the same as in Linux. We enter paginaweb.com:8443 (or the corresponding address) and enter the corresponding personal data with the username and password.
