The day has come, the crossover game of Overwatch began and players on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch will be able to cross their paths. A functionality long-awaited by many, although also feared by the differences that may exist in terms of precision and playability depending on the platform. Because we already know that for this type of titles a keyboard and mouse provide a plus.
Overwatch cross-play is now live
After Blizzard’s announcement of the arrival of cross-play to Overwatch , the kick-off day has finally arrived. From now on, Overwatch players will be able to play with each other no matter what platform they do it on. Something interesting for all those who want to expand the possibilities of play and friends.
However, although cross- play allows PC, Play, Xbox and Switch players to play with each other, there are restricted modes. That is, in Quick Play, Arcade and Custom modes everyone can play against everyone, but in competitive mode only console players can play against each other. Similarly, PC players in the qualifier will only play against others who do so on PC.
Why these limitations in ranked competitive mode? Well, very easy, because from Blizzard they do not want there to be controversies regarding the advantages that PC players can have over the rest of playing with a keyboard and mouse instead of a gamepad.
How to enable Overwatch crossover play

Enabling Overwatch crossover play depends on the platform you’re playing on. The PC players will not have to do anything and be active automatically from now. However, console players will have to do a previous step to enjoy this option.
If you play on PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch, you will need to link your Battle.net account to the console . This is something that does not involve any type of complication and all you have to do is have an active account. So in case you don’t have it yet, you just have to go to the Battle.net website and create it.
From that moment on, you will not have to do anything else, just go online and start enjoying the advantages of a game mode that for a long time had been in high demand by the entire Overwatch community.
Ideally now, it would also be given the option of being able to enjoy cross-progress. That is, that capacity that not all games available on different platforms offer and that allows the achievements that you get on, for example, your Nintendo Switch to be available later when you decide to continue the game on your PC or another system. But this may not happen and if it does it will not be imminent. Although I hope we are making mistakes and they surprise us at some point.
