How to set up a more secure passcode on the iPhone

There are several security options available on iPhones beyond the four-digit passcode. You can opt for more complex codes to enhance the security of your phone and safeguard your data against unauthorized access. In this post, we will guide you on how to increase the security of your iPhone in a simple way to provide even more protection for your data.

All the codes you want

When it comes to securing our iPhone, we don’t have to settle for a basic four or six-digit passcode. We can actually increase our security by using more complex codes that incorporate letters, symbols, and more characters. While it’s true that Touch ID or Face ID can bypass the passcode, having a longer and more complex code will make it much harder for unauthorized users to access our personal data.

By using a more complex code and combining it with biometric sensors and Apple ID protection tools like two-step verification, lost mode, and Find my iPhone, we can ensure that our device is even more secure and virtually impenetrable. So, if you want to protect your iPhone and keep your personal information safe, consider using a longer and more complex passcode along with other security measures.

How to change the code of the iPhone

To change the code on an iPhone, navigate to the Settings app and select either “Face ID & Passcode” or “Touch ID & Passcode,” depending on your device. Next, enter your current passcode to proceed. From here, you can select the option to “Change Passcode.”

Once we have clicked on the “Change code” option, we will be prompted to enter a new code. However, we should click on the “Code Options” text instead. Here, we will be able to choose from the following options:

  • 4-digit numeric code
  • 6-digit numeric code
  • Custom alphanumeric code
  • custom numeric code

Two of the most appealing options among the choices mentioned earlier are the personalized codes. In both cases, we are not limited to the six-digit code and can select the number of characters as per our choice. The first option is a custom numeric code, which consists of only numbers. The second option is a custom alphanumeric code, which allows us to use letters, numbers, and special characters. Although, it is important to note that emoticons cannot be used in the code. However, we can use the symbols and punctuation marks available on our device’s keyboard.

After configuring the new code, it becomes the method to unlock the iPhone. However, if you want to change the code again from the settings, you will have to enter the new code you set. Additionally, entering a long code does not mean you need to write it every time you want to access your iPhone. If biometric authentication by Touch ID or Face ID is configured, it is possible to access the iPhone using these methods.
