Over time and for some years now, cloud storage services have not stopped gaining followers. These are used these days in all kinds of settings, from personal to professional. We also have a multitude of proposals of this type such as OneDrive, Google Drive , Mega, Dropbox, Box, etc.
In fact, many of the large technology-related companies have their own cloud storage service. In most cases, they offer a free mode limited in space to their clients, expandable through a payment method. And of course, how could it be otherwise, Microsoft was not going to be less. That is why among its many platforms, programs and services, we also find OneDrive.

This is the proposal presented by those from Redmond in this regard. In fact, it complements perfectly with other programs of the same firm such as Windows 10 or Office, the productivity suite. Thus, quickly and directly we have the possibility of storing personal data in our personal space in the cloud . It is worth mentioning that initially we have a capacity available, free of charge, of five gigabytes. As we mentioned before, this space can be expanded upon payment.
Advantages of using OneDrive on Windows
Thus, how could it be otherwise, the software giant does everything possible so that, when using Windows, we complement it with other programs and services of its own. This is something we see on a daily basis, for example with the Edge browser or the Office suite, for example. At the same time, if we focus on one of its flagship products such as Windows 10, this becomes especially palpable.
By this we mean that the operating system already brings with it a series of pre-installed applications that we have there, yes or yes. By these we mean the popular Mail , Calculator, Paint, Notepad, Calendar, Movies and TV , etc. These, as you know, are services and applications of the firm that are part of the operating system when installed. All this despite the fact that many users do not want to use them or do not need them.

Well, among these applications that we are talking about, as you might imagine, we also find OneDrive. As we mentioned before, this is Microsoft’s cloud storage service that is integrated into the operating system from Windows 8. This allows hundreds of millions of Windows users to work with this cloud as if it were a location disk over our PC . All this also without having to make use of additional clients and without practically having to use advanced options. Of course, sometimes this does not work as well as we would like and has certain errors.
Disadvantages of OneDrive in Windows
At the same time, a large number of users do not trust the cloud and therefore do not use this type of services such as OneDrive . This is why we tell you that some consider that it does not make much sense to have an application installed in Windows that, in reality, they will never use.

But of course, this is where we can find a major stumbling block. We tell you this because Microsoft does not give us a choice if we want to use this cloud or not. In fact, when we do a clean installation of Windows 10 from scratch, this service appears automatically along with others mentioned. What’s more, an annoying assistant asks us to log into the platform, an assistant that by the way is not easy to lose sight of if we are not interested in what it offers.
That is why we are going to teach you, on the one hand, how to deactivate the OneDrive configuration assistant in Windows 10. We will also see the easiest way to completely uninstall this tool so that there is no trace of it in the system Microsoft operating.
How to remove OneDrive completely in Windows 10
To begin, it should be clear which client or the OneDrive app appears in the list of Windows programs. However, unlike others, the system here does not allow us to uninstall it as one more application . Therefore we have no choice but to have to do it ourselves by hand. Thus, for this, the first thing we do is stop all the processes of this synchronization client. In this way we will have the possibility to carry out the uninstallation that we are commenting on, and without impediments.
Stop the OneDrive process on the system
The first thing we must do is open a command prompt or CMD window. Just type the CMD command in the Windows search box and run this application with administrator permissions. Once we have the corresponding window in view, in it we type the following command: taskkill / f / im OneDrive.exe.

With this, what we achieve is to completely stop the operation of OneDrive in Windows, so we are going to see how we can uninstall it from the PC. Therefore, on the assumption that we have a PC running with Windows 10 32-bit, we do the following.
Permanently remove OneDrive from Windows
In the same CMD window we must execute the OneDrive installation command with the parameter to uninstall it:% SystemRoot% System32OneDriveSetup.exe / uninstall.
Similarly, if our Windows 10 is 64-bit we will have to use the following command in the CMD:% SystemRoot% SysWOW64OneDriveSetup.exe / uninstall.
Once we have made use of the corresponding command in the command prompt window , it is recommended to restart the system. Of course, we must bear in mind that even if we delete the app as such, there will be some useless traces. Here we mean an icon in Windows Explorer that will no longer sync with the cloud service , for example. In addition, this will already give us the opportunity, if we wish, to use other proposals of this type that offer more space or are more secure.
