Since its arrival in our country, it has only increased the number of clients on the US platform, whose success is largely thanks to its extensive catalog of content. And we can find all kinds of series, movies and documentaries, for all tastes and ages. This also makes many parents worry about the content their children have access to.
To prevent them from having access to content not appropriate for their age, the platform offers its own parental control . This way you can protect access to certain content so that your children cannot see it.
Basically, to activate parental control on Netflix on an account, all we have to do is set a PIN. Now, as the owner of the platform account, we have two options to control the display of certain content with a PIN, request this access code to access certain content based on age classification or to access certain series or movies
How to put a PIN to block content by age
Defining a PIN to block access to content categorized by age, allows you to enter that code to play a series or movie that has an age rating higher than the one established in the profile. In this way, we make sure that our children cannot see content classified for an age above the one we have selected.
To do this, we must follow these simple steps:
- Let’s go to Netflix from our browser
- We log in to our account
- We click on the Parental Control link in the Configuration section
- Enter the password of our account
- We indicate the four-digit number that we will use as a PIN
- We select the level of protection according to the ages established for the contents:
- Smaller – All
- Peques -7+
- Teens -13+
- Adults -16+, 18+
- We save the changes
From that moment on, it will be necessary for us to enter the PIN set to reproduce content whose age rating is higher than the one we have just configured. It is important that we consult the age classification in our country that performs Netflix. In Spain, it is currently the one we have just defined, but the truth is that it does not hurt to consult it in case it has suffered any variation.
Set a PIN to watch certain series or movies
The platform also allows us to define a PIN to block access to certain content. This guarantees that our child cannot access certain series or movies. To do this, all we have to do is follow these steps:
- Let’s go to Netflix from our browser
- We log in to our account
- We click on the Parental Control link in the Configuration section
- Enter the password of our account
- We choose the four digits of our PIN
- We set the PIN protection for a specific title by writing the title in the Enter title of the series or movie box.
- Finally, we click on the title in question
- Click on Save
From that moment on, if any of our children tries to access any of the blocked series or movies, they will not have access unless they enter the established PIN.
How to disable parental control on Netflix
It is possible that after having activated parental control or set a PIN to block access to certain content by age or title, we want to remove this lock and regain access to the entire Netflix catalog.
Well, for this, all we have to do is change the level of restriction as follows:
- Access the Account page from a web browser
- Select the Parental Control link in the Settings section
- Enter your Netflix account password on the screen
- Set your level of restriction to the highest position, Adults . This will allow you to see any title with any classification without entering any PIN
It is possible that after making some change in the parental control settings, they are not reflected at the moment and it is necessary to log out of our account and re-start it and even change from one profile to another and then return to the same profile.
