There is no doubt that Xiaomi wants to launch a new folding mobile as soon as possible. The Xiaomi brand has registered several patents with different designs of folding screen phones in recent months and the last one reminds us very much of one presented last year. According to the company’s latest patent, Xiaomi’s next folding mobile would be more than inspired by the Huawei Mate X from its most direct competitor in China.

We are many who expect the company to present a folding phone at the end of this year so as not to lose “place” in the phone market, but there are still many doubts if the model would be a replica of the Galaxy Z Flip and Motorola Razr or the Huawei. Mate X. According to the image that we leave below, the basis for the new device would be the Huawei option.

The Xiaomi folding mobile
The patent, applied for by Xiaomi Mobile Software Co. Ltd. was filed with the CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration) in 2019 but it is now when it has been made public showing a fold-out design that Xiaomi has never tried before. According to the image of the same, the folding hinge is located in the center under the screen and, when unfolding the device outwards, it becomes a normal phone. In fact it is more similar to the Huawei Mate Xs released in February this year than the original Mate X.
The screen goes from edge to edge reaching a size, we imagine, greater than 7 inches and extends to a strip on the right side that has the control buttons at the same time that accommodates the smartphone cameras.
From what we see in the signature patent, there is also a button on the right to separate the flip screen and flip it over, right under the four vertically stacked cameras and an LED flashlight that stays to the right of the “bulkier” area ” Also, the power button along with the volume controls can be seen on the right side, while at the bottom, there are speaker grills, SIM card slot, a microphone, and a USB-C. Interestingly, the bottom also seems to house room for a stylus, but that still needs to be confirmed.
Of course, none of this we can take as official until Xiaomi , owner of the patent, decides.
