WiFi Analyzer: How to View Advanced WiFi Information with This App

WiFi Analyzer from the developer VREM Software Development, is an Android app that we can download for free from the Play Store. Thanks to it we will be able to obtain advanced Wi-Fi information, where it will show us all the networks that we have around us and we can classify them to our liking. This app is one of the best in its field, so if you are a professional of the networks, we recommend without a doubt to try it.

The first step we are going to take is to download the app from the Google Play Store:

Once we have installed it, when we start it for the first time we will get a screen like this.

Here it is explaining to us why the application needs location permissions, which is a detail on the part of the developer. Then we accept and Android will ask us if we give permission.

In this case we give it to allow because it is a necessary and common permission for the use of network apps. The WiFi Analyzer initial screen will now appear.

Above you have three buttons:

  1. To the left of all the program options.
  2. The center one is to filter the Wifi networks.
  3. The one on the right is for pausing / starting the network scan.

Below you have direct access to the main sections of the app. If we click on the icon that I indicated in the upper left corner, we will access the application options.

Just like on the main screen you have direct access to the main sections along with the Settings. The latter is the one that I am going to show below.

Here you can see the interval of exploration measured in seconds, the way to order the access points and many other things. Now is the time to learn how to work with the filter.

In this case we can filter by:

  1. Network name, being able to write a specific one.
  2. Band, being able to choose between 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz or both.
  3. Depending on the security and encryption protocol they use.

When we remove one to filter it will be more blurred. Then we have the Reset button to leave the default filters and the Apply button to execute them. Now let’s take the 2.4 GHz band with a good signal as an example.

And as you can see, many fewer appear now.

These are the results that we obtain when applying the filter.

One thing that must be commented that always, above all and a little blurred, the Wi-Fi network to which we are connected will appear. From «Network» which is mine, and also from the rest it offers the following information:

  1. Signal strength in db.
  2. Channel.
  3. MAC address.
  4. Equipment manufacturer.
  5. Security encryption.

Below all, if we click on the WiFi Analyzer Classification section, we will obtain this data.

Above all where the red box is, you can see that the 2.4 GHz network is selected, and by clicking on 5 GHz we would change bands. Here you are offering us a list of channels and a classification for use along with the number of people who are using it. Thanks to this, we can study which channel we should use assuming that ours was highly saturated.

If you scroll down more channels will appear. Now it’s time for the Channel Graph based on the signal strength of the WiFi Analyzer. Let’s start with the 2.4 GHz band.

Since we have many more channels in the 5 GHz band than in the 2.4 GHz band, the graph has been divided into three parts. The first from channel 36 to 64 that you see active in blue, the second from 100 to 144 and the third from 149 to 165. In the last section of WiFi Analyzer, we have the Time Charts in the 2.4 GHz band.

And finally, the Time Charts in the 5 GHz band.

As you can see in the WiFi Analyzer, it is offering us a very complete way to get to know the Wi-Fi networks around us and know if we need to change the channel. This application is one of the most complete and most recommended for scanning the Wi-fi networks around us and obtaining a large amount of information from them.
