WhatsApp on Windows: 4 Things They Should Improve

WhatsApp is the most widely used instant messaging client in the world. Millions of messages, both personal and work, pass through its servers every day. This messaging client, currently owned by Facebook, was initially created to be used exclusively from mobile devices. However, with the passage of time (and the pressure of the competition), WhatsApp ended up reaching the PC, although not in the desired way. And, although time passes, the way to use this messaging client on PC continues to leave much to be desired.

It is true that recently WhatsApp for PC has received improvements and news. Now, for example, it is possible to see the statuses of our contacts, and even from this summer it is possible to make video calls from the computer. However, it still leaves much to be desired in many aspects and lacks many options that, for example, are available in the competition, such as Telegram.

Voice calls and video calls

WhatsApp video calls have been with us for a long time, just like voice calls. However, these have not yet reached PC. While from the mobile we can make video calls or voice calls without problems (up to 8 participants), if we try to do it from Desktop or Web, it will redirect us to Facebook Messenger, an independent platform.

It is impossible to make WhatsApp calls from the PC just like on the mobile. And that is an important handicap for many.

Become independent from WhatsApp on your mobile

When WhatsApp hit PC, users were delighted. At least for a few seconds. The developers of this messaging client did not make an independent client like any other chat offers us (Telegram, Hangouts, etc.), but instead created a remote control interface that basically allows us to control the mobile messaging client from the computer. It is what we know as WhatsApp Web .

It is a shame that at this point, on PC (both web and desktop) continue to depend on the mobile. Facebook should work on it and create an independent client that allows us to use this messaging client independently, without having to have a mobile phone nearby.

Add new contacts from WhatsApp on PC

Adding contacts to WhatsApp is not a precisely intuitive task (since we have to save them in the phonebook itself), but on PC it is not even possible. Neither in the Web version nor in the Desktop version of the messaging client we will be able to add new contacts to start a conversation with them. We would have to take the mobile, save the new number in the phonebook, and look for it in the messaging client to start talking to him.

And it is not that the PC does not have access to the contacts, since, for example, we will be able to share them through chats.

Share audios and locations

WhatsApp allows us to send photos and videos from the computer, just like from the mobile. However, the sharing options of this messaging client are much more limited than they should be. For example, if we are thinking of sending an audio file (a song, for example) or sharing a location with another person (even if it is not ours) we will not be able to do so.

We hope that in 2021 Facebook will react and pay more attention to the versions of WhatsApp for PC. Let’s see if, finally, we can at least be able to become independent from the mobile.
