vmPing: the Tool to Know the Ping in Multiple Connections

When we talk about a good Internet connection, we must bear in mind that speed does not only matter. It is true that everyone wants to have a lot of “megabytes” both download and upload, but it should be mentioned that it is not the only thing that will determine if we are going to be able to navigate and make use of the different tools we have at our disposal, just as well. Ping or latency is something that we must keep in mind, since it will be vital to play online or make a video call. In this article we are going to talk about vmPing , an interesting tool for Windows.

Control ping, something very important in the network

As we say, knowing what ping we have is something very important in the network. Having a high ping to play means that we will not be able to enjoy equally with other users. We may even have trouble entering a game.

Something similar would happen if we are going to make a video call. In case our latency is too high we could not communicate correctly. This would cause the image to be delayed, the other person to receive the sound a few seconds later and, ultimately, communication to be very unstable.

There are different factors that can cause the ping to be higher or lower, but we are not going to focus on that in this article. We are going to talk about an interesting tool for Windows called vmPing . It is a multi ping program with which we can know the latency with which we communicate with different pages or services on the Internet. In this way we will be able to have a greater knowledge about it and be able to take measures if necessary.

vmPing, the tool to know the ping of multiple connections

Today Windows 10 is the most used operating system on desktop computers. It is present in most users and therefore when we show such a tool it can benefit many.

vmPing is an open source program and totally free . It is very simple to use and also does not need installation, since it is portable. We are simply going to have to download it to our computer and run it quickly. There we will find different options, as we will see. The goal is to check the ping of multiple connections in one place. All this in a simple and fast way.

First of all we have to download vmPing. For this we can go to the GitHub page and obtain the EXE file. As we have mentioned, it will not be necessary to install it in the system.

To get the results of a specific site we simply have to enter the domain or IP address in the box on the left and click Start . In our example we have put this article.net. It begins to send requests and it will show us the number of packages sent and received, as well as those that have been lost. Of course it will show us the ping. We will see information on the minimum, maximum and average latency. We can stop the process at any time by clicking on Stop.

Controlar el ping con vmPing

But as we say, vmPing stands out against other similar tools in that we can obtain results from multiple sites at the same time. For this we simply have to click on Add Host as many times as necessary. Here we show an example, where we have started the test with this article.net, HardZone.es, SoftZone.es and ADSLZone.net. When we have written all the addresses we give Start All or F5.

Keep in mind that during the process they will show us different colors depending on whether everything is correct or if there is an error. In our case we see that everything is green. We can stop the whole process together or go one by one, depending on our interests.

Configure vmPing

We have seen the easy way to use vmPing, which is basically to use it as it comes. However, we can configure some parameters and adapt it more to our needs. It’s very easy and fast. For this you have to go to the menu (the arrow that we see at the top right) and enter Options.

Once we are in Options we can see different aspects to configure. For example we can change the ping interval for seconds, minutes and hours. Also configure alerts in case an anomaly is detected and be able to receive it by e-mail to correct the problem.

Keep in mind that we can also use vmPing to monitor TCP ports. It has built-in tools like Trace Route and Flood Host . The first one checks the network path of a computer connection to the host to measure delays. Flood Host basically keeps pinging the server continuously without waiting for a response.

In short, vmPing is a simple and useful tool for those who want to control the ping of their computers and also with respect to different websites or applications used.
