The day has come when the paths of Huawei and Google definitely part. After launching a first beta of the operating system aimed at your smart devices, the second beta of HarmonyOS can now be installed on the first mobiles of the manufacturer. How does the operating system of the Chinese brand look like?
The launch of this new ROM is aimed at application developers having a first contact with the operating system and seeing how their apps respond to the software. However, you can try it yourself on your phone with some luck.

HarmonyOS was originally conceived to bring the “Internet of Everything” to life by enhancing the experience of using all kinds of apps in the connected home environment. For example, with HarmonyOS, the JD application can be run on televisions, refrigerators, smart speakers and any device that has a screen.
It was only a matter of time, as the brand itself warned, that the operating system reached the first Huawei phones. This is how the beta works on a Huawei P40 Pro.

Huawei’s first smartphones with HarmonyOS
These are the mobile phone and tablet models that support the HarmonyOS beta version in China: ANA-AN00, ELS-AN00, TAS-AL00, TAS-AN00, LIO-AL00, LIO-AN00. On paper, they are these devices:
- Phones: Huawei P40 and P40 Pro
- Huawei Mate 30, Mate 30 (5G), Mate 30 Pro and Mate 30 Pro (5G)

If you have one of these phones for any reason, there are two ways you can install the beta. One is quite complicated and the other is simpler but you have to check that, indeed, you have one of the models that appear in the previous table in your possession.
Developers can use the remote simulator in Huawei DevEco Studio by downloading the DevEco Studio 2.0 Beta3 version from the official HarmonyOS website, It is easier to update your phone using the exclusive OTA that will be provided after registering on this website . If you have a smartphone compatible with the software and your participation in the trials is approved, you will receive an email with the official invitation to the Huawei public beta.
Of course, all the software is in Chinese so unless you have a good command of the Far Eastern language we don’t recommend installing it. You can always wait for Huawei to keep its word and bring its new operating system to more than 100 million devices over the next year.
