In these times and for a few years, Microsoft is betting on its own Edge program as the default browser in Windows. But this was not always the case, since in the past the Redmond firm had, and has, another program of this type that at the time was the undisputed leader in the sector, we are talking about Internet Explorer .
We must bear in mind that as our connections have been gaining in speed and stability, the Internet has become an important part of our lives. At the same time, the programs that help us to move around the web, the web browsers, have also become basic in most computers. But of course, these are programs that, like the Internet as such, for better and for worse do not stop evolving.

Today we have an industry leader that comes from the hand of Google with its Chrome , but Microsoft wants to return to occupy an important place. That is why the second Edge was launched, this one already based on a Chromium engine. In this way, it is presented as a serious alternative for millions of users around the world. What’s more, here we are not only talking about Windows- based desktop PCs, but for example mobiles also play a fundamental role.
But along these lines we want to focus on a program that at the time was the benchmark in this market, also owned by Microsoft. However, despite being an almost 100% abandoned product, we still find it in Windows 10 . Of course, we always have the possibility of uninstalling Internet Explorer from Windows, something that will even come in handy for some reasons, as we will see.

To avoid conflict with other web browsers
As most of you will already know first-hand, Internet Explorer is a program that could be considered as abandoned. This is extended to both its developers and users around the world. That is why the latter choose to use other proposals such as Firefox , Chrome, Edge or Opera, among others.
Therefore, under certain circumstances, Internet Explorer can cause some compatibility issues in newer browsers. This would be a good reason to get rid of that software that we no longer use.
Internet Explorer is wasted disk space
Not to mention the disk space that the program takes up unnecessarily. It is true that it cannot be said that the savings on the hard disk will be very high, but surely users of old or somewhat limited PCs appreciate it. More if we take into account that these are a few megabytes that we can use in other more useful tasks than in maintaining software that we have not opened for years.
Remove Internet Explorer for security reasons
One of the main reasons the decline of this particular program began at the time was for its safety. It began to fall victim to countless vulnerabilities that Microsoft was not able to fully fix. Hence, millions of users looked for other alternatives, and those of Redmond little by little they were abandoning the project.
So, if we do not plan to use this program ever again in the future, to prevent other novice users from running it on our PC , it is best to uninstall it.
