They Create a Tiny Robot that Moves Like an Animal

Robots are a form of technology that is not yet up to date and is not as widely used as others, but they can be very useful for certain missions and uses. Their small size can make these devices very dynamic and inconspicuous.

The United States has developed a small robot that moves at incredible speed and with great agility, being able to adopt the tiny size of a coin. The key to its speed are its legs that allow it to turn violently and stick to the different surfaces on which it moves.

This design took as a reference a model used in 2019 that used a very strong material resistant to high temperatures. After a first series of tests carried out, the engineers responsible for the project discovered that it could carry small goods despite its diminutive size.

However, at the beginning he was not so agile, as he had a series of random movements that did not allow him to follow a firm trajectory, so at this point the development focused on improving his movements, something that has already been achieved. Thanks to a system of electrodes, the robot’s legs adhere to the ground.

The scientists created a small maze to see how long it took for the robot to find its way out. The results were more than satisfactory, as it did not take him six seconds to do the entire route.

Another test that was carried out was to locate where gas concentrations were carried out within a certain area, which could help in the future to discover gas leaks by applying these robots.

Two different versions

Two different models were developed: one that was connected to a current and another that had a battery. The one that gave the best results was the one that was connected, which moved just as fast as some small animals, while the other version was slower.

Currently one of the greatest objectives that humanity has is to manufacture small machines but that perform the same or better than those that are large. The key is in the small size, which allows these robots to move at a very dynamic speed unlike the larger ones that are slower.
