Just this year marks the 25th anniversary – yes, yes, you read that right – of the theatrical release of Starship Troopers . A film that caused a huge stir because behind the cameras was neither more nor less than Paul Verhoeven ( Robocop , Total Recall, Basic Instinct , etc.), in front of an incredible cast of actors like Neil Patrick Harris, Dina Meyer and Denise Richards, among others, in addition to an incredible legion of computer-generated murderous beasts that shocked audiences in their day.
From film to multiplayer
The fact is that although the film did not reap a very well-known box office success at the time, since it barely raised 20 million dollars more than it cost, over the years it has managed to gather around it a good number of fans who have not only kept her memory alive, but have done everything possible so that we all have her on that pedestal to which only cult titles rise. And he is on his way to achieving it.
Be that as it may, Offworld Industries has presented a few hours ago what will be Starship Troopers Extermination , a pure and hard FPS ( first person shooter ) , one of those who like to play from time to time on PC armed with a keyboard and a mouse to, above all, everything, face an infinite army of insects whose legs have become their main weapon since, as you will remember, they can pierce, cut, section and amputate members of the space marines almost as if they were butter.
Although at the moment there is not much information, it is known that the game will opt for the cooperative multiplayer model, where up to 12 marines will be able to face the plague of insects that devastate different planets in different missions. Remember that in the movie these beasts had conquered several places in the galaxy and it was the mission of the humans to reconquer the lost ground until they finally reached the headquarters.

How can you play it?
First of all, it must be said that Starship Troopers Extermination is not available yet, although it has an official page on Steam. Well, it will be through it that we can test the game before anyone else when the so-called early access is launched. Indeed, the developer has announced that it is now opening a wishlist process, that is, we can add this title to our favorites so that, when new developments occur, they inform us of everything.
This means that as soon as early access is active (which will happen in 2023) we could get into testing what their cooperative battles will be like and, above all, experiment with any of the three announced classes, such as defense, support and assault In total, we will be part of a team of three squads with four marines each who will not only fight to survive, but also to obtain the necessary resources and thus increase the firepower of our base of operations (building walls, generating raw materials and objects, etc.) located on the planet Valaka.
Of course, it looks like it wants to become a new multiplayer phenomenon that extends as much as possible over the next few years. Will he get it?
