The eternal battle of all years between the most powerful Android phones against the latest from Apple. Now that both Apple’s new A14 Bionic processor and the Snapdragon 888 are official, the debate between which of the two is more powerful is latent again. We have yet to see the first commercial smartphone that integrates the Snapdragon 888, but that does not prevent us from seeing the first round of this fight between two of the most famous processors on the market.
There is no doubt that the most powerful Android smartphone with Snapdragon 888, together with an iPhone 12 with A14 Bionic, will offer the maximum performance in any game, application or multitasking as aggressive as it may be. However, the performance of both chips is always measured, which coincidentally have the same ARM architecture and have been based on a 5nm manufacturing process. Both offer the most power and energy efficiency ever seen on Android and iPhone.

Apple takes advantage
However, the famous Geekbench performance program has shown the results of both processors . A terminal with Snapdragon 888 has not yet been launched on the market, but we know that the most powerful mobiles such as the Xiaomi Mi 11, or some variant of the Galaxy S21 will integrate it. In this case, a test carried out with the OnePlus 9 Pro filter has been taken as a reference.
This terminal has achieved 1115 points in the single core tests, and 3483 points in the multi-core tests. Similarly, Apple’s A14 Bionic achieves 1,585 points in the single-core test and 3,924 points in the multi-core tests. Recall that the Snapdragon 888 is a chip with 8 cores, while the Apple processor has six cores.

What does this mean?
In terms of usability, the iPhone 12 and its A14, get a performance plus, which can translate into greater fluidity in some games or tasks where performance is pushed to the limit . However, let us remember that each application is created on demand for one operating system or another, so that the user with a Snapdragon 888 or A14 Bionic mobile could hardly notice a difference in load times etc. However, only when A terminal can be compared with the latest from Qualcomm and an iPhone 12, we will leave doubts.
It must be borne in mind that beyond the battle of performance, where both processors are left over, the focus has been on energy efficiency , a more pending subject if possible. These tests must be taken with a grain of salt, since Android smartphones with Snapdragon 888 can offer very different performances, depending on the level of optimization achieved by each manufacturer and the hardware that accompanies it.
