Sony has confirmed that it will not attend the E3 of 2020, but it will be before when we know much more about the console, since not only the company will present many new features in February, but many leaks continue to be confirmed. Today we are going to focus on the performance that the console will offer and its technical characteristics.
PlayStation 5 will probably hit the market on November 20 or October 2020 , with new games, new hardware and new design. The console will be backwards compatible with PS4 (discs included), it will allow resolutions of up to 8K to be set in some games, it will have support for Ray Tracing for better lighting and reflections calculated in real time and in a more natural way, and it will be AMD who takes care of the graphics card and the processor, which will be included within the same chip. An APU like that of PS4.

The processor will be based on 7 nm Zen 2 architecture similar to the one used by the third generation of AMD Ryzen chips. It will have 8 cores (like the 3700X) and will be designed exclusively for the console. The GPU will be a custom variation based on Navi architecture .
The console will also have a three-dimensional audio system for greater immersion and better positioning of enemies. The loading times will be reduced to the minimum expression thanks to the inclusion of an SSD, which probably uses a hybrid system with a small part of SSD and another hard disk to have the best of both worlds. Where for example Spider-Man took 8.1 seconds to load, now it takes 0.8 seconds. It is also rumored that the console can use RAM (which will be shared by the CPU and GPU as in PS4) to also accelerate loading times.
What will PS5 look like?
Normally the appearance of the devices is usually filtered, but with consoles this is usually difficult. The only thing we have at the moment are renders and some photos of the development kits with their particular V-shape. The PS4 development kit, for example, had nothing to do with the final aspect of the console, so this kit is still a simple curiosity.

And the DualShock 5 and other gadgets?
The PS5 controller will be very similar to the PS4 controller. It will have the same base design, but it will have some small differences if we are guided by the patents that Sony has registered. For example, the light bar will not be present, and the triggers will change size. These triggers will be adaptive, feeling the tension of game elements like a tightening arc before firing. The vibration motor will become haptic to be controlled more precisely. The remote control will become USB C, and the remote will have a microphone. It will be a bit heavier than the current one, but it will still be lighter than Xbox.

The current PSVR glasses can continue to be used with the new console, and there are even rumors that PSVR 2 would be released with more resolution and a higher refresh rate (2560 x 1440 pixels, 120 Hz and 220º vision), in addition to others improvements such as being able to use it wirelessly with up to 5 hours of battery life on a single charge, or eye tracking technology.
What changes will the software bring?
In addition to loading games faster, the interface will be completely redesigned to improve interaction with our friends. For example, if we see a friend playing an online game, we can give him to load the game directly in a few seconds.
The games will continue to come in physical format, with Blu-ray discs of up to 100 GB, thanks to the console having a 4K Blu-ray reader. The titles can be installed, and even parts that we don’t want can be deleted. For example, we can eliminate the single player campaign if we only want to play multiplayer. Sony has also said it will seek to focus on offering more exclusive AAA titles instead of the indies to concentrate more titles that appeal to gamers.
Remote Play would also be improved with respect to PS4, since it could even be played from the mobile through 5G networks or from other WiFi networks, basically creating our own cloud streaming platform.
What price will PS5 have?
There is nothing written about the price of PS5, but Sony’s few public statements about it make it clear that it could be more expensive than PS4. The most recent thing they said is that the price would go according to what the console will offer in terms of performance, so we could perfectly expect figures around 449 and even 499 euros , the latter being more likely.

To confirm these rumors we will have to wait for the next weeks of February, but it is likely that new information will be leaked before. This month we will know its release date, final price, interface, appearance, control design and official specifications. Until then the speculations already offer us a lot of information about the console. The biggest unknown of all will be the performance it will offer.
Many of the rumors spilled went with the information that the slogan of the console will be ” It’s time to play “, which now appears on the PlayStation Europe Twitter account. Therefore, many of this information leaked a few days ago about the news that will arrive in February or the supposed price of 499 euros could be true. Among them it is stated that the reservations of the console would start on February 5 after a Sony conference in New York, and that titles such as Gran Turismo 7, MLB The Show 21, Demons Souls Remastered, Godfall and Legendz will be launch titles of the console.
