New Features Requested to iPadOS 15, the Operating System of the iPad

Since the first version of iPadOS separated from iOS was launched in 2019, it is becoming more and more a reality to be able to use an iPad as if it were a computer. However, it still lacks aspects to be polished and that are already being claimed for iPadOS 15. Will Apple listen to the requests? We analyze below which is the top requests that are made the most in this regard.

What most users ask for iPadOS 15

Forums, social networks or private conversations. Any area is good for those most loyal to the iPad to talk about what news Apple could implement to its operating system. For this reason, the following sections describe these requests and in no case is it confirmed that they will arrive, but in view of how repeated they are, it is very likely that the company will end up implementing them at some point.

Features Requested to iPadOS 15

Widgets on the whole screen like on the iPhone

Apple took years to make widgets for iOS and then as many to redesign and make them manageable anywhere on the screen. Now it is a reality, but only for the iPhone. There are those who believe that its usefulness in the iPad is wasted and it is not understood that in iPadOS 14 they were not added. Therefore, it is requested that the next version can be as manageable as on the mobile and incidentally that it is allowed to interact directly with them without being direct accesses to the apps.

App Library, even more sense on iPad

If we want the iPad to be a substitute for a computer, nothing better than a section in which the apps are collected in the purest Launchpad style of the Mac. It really would not be necessary something like that, since the Apps Library installed in iOS 14 could be much more useful on an iPadOS. Like widgets, it is not known why the iPad did not have this novelty in version 14.

Extensions for a desktop Safari

With iPadOS 13 the desire to be able to view desktop websites on screens like those of the iPad was fulfilled, but now it seems that this functionality has fallen short. Apple could go further with Safari on the iPad and implement desktop functions such as extensions, being able to add a good handful of native functions in this section.

Multi-user, required for family iPads

IPads remain the most popular tablet for home use among fathers, mothers, sons and daughters. Being able to have each member their own user could be a very important benefit in differentiating apps and personal settings. This function has been rumored to arrive in iPadOS 15, so it could be one of the surprises in its presentation.

Using the iPad on an external monitor (but fine)

Currently it is only allowed to mirror the iPad screen to an external monitor and not as a secondary screen. In addition, the interface does not adapt to the dimensions of it, showing two side bars that worsen the experience. Who knows if with the new iPad Pro 2021 and its possible Thunderbolt ports this ends up being a software improvement with iPadOS 15.

Improved window treatment

We understand that adding windows as in macOS would in the end reduce almost to a minimum the difference in use of an iPad and a Mac, however this section can be improved on tablets. Currently the Split View works very well and you can even have up to three apps open at the same time, but being able to work more comfortably with this interface and better manage the sizes of the windows could be a much applauded improvement in iPadOS 15.

When will we know the news officially?

At WWDC 2021 it will be when the news of this iPadOS 15 and the rest of Apple’s operating systems are finally announced. Despite not being announced yet, it is expected that this presentation will take place in June. Therefore, there are still 3 months left to find out whether or not Apple will comply with these and other user requests.
