New Android 12 Feature: App Pairs Will Improve Split Screen

According to different reports and leaks, Google is working on a revamped multitasking feature that will allow users to launch pairs of apps on Android 12 . This, which may sound quite strange in this way, is simpler than it seems.

Just start by taking a look at what we have in Android 11. Google’s current operating system for mobile devices has a split-screen function that allows users to use two applications side by side. But honestly, it is not the most ergonomic way to use two apps at the same time on a screen between 6 and 7 inches.

This is the reason why, according to different media, the Internet giant is “working on a complete renovation of the split screen system in Android 12 with a new function called ‘App Pairs'” .

What is the new feature in Android 12?

The current system that we find in Android mobiles updated to the latest version is what it does is fix an application and then launch another on top. In Android 12 , App Pairs will group two apps together to use as a single task, making both of them work at the same time without any performance lag.

This would mean that two of our recently opened applications can be chosen to become a pair, the same window where the two apps appear running in real time at the same time. Once paired, you could easily switch to a third different app and then go back to the pair created with the new Android 12 tool .

Android 12 App Pairs will have a divider that users can adjust to their liking, gaining a bit more functionality than what we can see today, allowing the positions of the two applications to be quickly exchanged by double-tapping the divider. What we do not know is if it will allow creating shortcuts from the desktop to access those couple of apps more quickly.

What does it sound like to us …?

As soon as we know how this new tool of the future version of Android works, Samsung and one of its novelties in One Ui 3.0 has come to mind for many. Interestingly, the Android 11-based customization layer of the Korean firm has a function called App Pairs, which allows users to create custom shortcuts for two applications of their choice.

Android 12 should be released throughout the second quarter of the year.
