There are several elements of Windows 10 that over the years and versions have remained fixed in the operating system itself. Whether due to its functionality or its acceptance by users, many of these have been with us for a long time.
But that does not mean that some of these, as for example happens with the Control Panel, the File Explorer, or the Start menu, are fully accepted. In fact, a good part of the users for a long time claim that some of them are updated to the current times. This is the case, for example, of the mentioned File Explorer, an object that needs a major change in future updates.

At the same time, something similar happens with the Start menu of the operating system, something that the Redmond-based firm has been dealing with for some time. Specifically, we mean that Microsoft itself has been working for a few months, at least based on rumors and leaks , in a more updated Start menu.
Microsoft works on the new design of the Start menu
In fact, some of these rumors suggest that the firm is moving away from the current Live Tiles to reuse the most basic demanded icons. Over the past few months, Microsoft has partially confirmed the rumor. On the one hand, it says that for the moment Live Tiles will remain available to developers and users, but at the same time it confirms that they are moving away from these elements.
Instead they work on an icon set for Windows 10 applications that don’t include Live Tiles at all. Therefore, the information that the Redmond sent us in this regard is somewhat confusing. There is no doubt that the removal of the current tiles would be a big change.
In parallel, the design team also showed a concept in which the change to the icons is used to improve the appearance of the Start menu. To this we can add that the Office 365 team has just published a set of Windows 10 wallpapers in which you can see a renewed Start menu already in action.

These are the changes that will reach the Start menu
Specifically, in the mentioned screenshot, it is seen that the mosaic area is now used to better integrate the choice of dark or light mode of the system. Therefore, as Microsoft hinted, the next Start menu would no longer be dominated by color blocks that cannot be changed, as it is now. This would lead to an improvement in the experience of use with this element after disabling the use of the so little accepted Live Tiles.
Similarly in this screenshot you can also see that in the list of applications on the Start menu, the elements that compose it are no longer surrounded by color blocks. So, as you can guess, Microsoft’s intention is to bring Windows 10 closer to the next Windows 10X and make a user interface that works equally well in light and dark modes. At the same time what is intended is that we have a cleaner Start menu , as well as visually simple.
