Samsung is about to introduce some major changes to its lineup in 2021, starting with the S Pen-compatible Galaxy S21 in January. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold3 will be the flagship of the Korean company in a second half of the year dominated by the manufacturer’s folding devices.
The latest news revolves around the successor to the Galaxy Z Flip (5G). A new report details that the telephony brand wants to bring this type of device to a larger audience and for this they would reduce their price. But of course, a reduction in its sale price implies “cutting” some of its characteristics and this is precisely what Samsung is thinking about.

Bringing to life a cheaper folding
The manufacturer plans to equip the upcoming Z Flip model with a mid-range chipset and make it the most affordable foldable to date. A leak echoed by the Galaxy Club media details a model number that is intended to be assigned to a future Galaxy Z Flip model: SM-F720F. The “F” means that the specified model is an international variant and the absence of a letter “B” also lets us know that this new model will not provide 5G support.
In this way, it is possible that next year we will have a Z Flip2 with 5G and features superior to those of the model launched on the market a few months ago, while the brand could position the Z Flip3 , or Z Flip Lite, as a folding model mid-range. Logically, the fact that it is a 4G model would imply being below the original Z Flip , which works with a processor from the Snapdragon 800 family.
Very good but… and the price?
This is the great mystery we face. If we want to qualify Samsung’s new folding mobile as affordable, it seems clear that it should sport a 3-digit price. Recall that Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip went on sale in Spain for a price of around 1,500 euros at the same time that the Z Gold 2 exceeded 2,000. These prices are not very “affordable” for the common of the mortals that in 2021, if the plans regarding this Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 come to fruition, they could buy a smartphone with a flexible screen for less than 1000 euros.
It is to be imagined that the new Galaxy Z will be presented at the end of August next year.
