The year 2023 has witnessed a remarkable surge in the launch of ultraportable console models, all equipped with the AMD Ryzen 7 7840U processor or its counterpart, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme. However, the entry of a new player has set the stage for a more captivating competition – Intel.
In a sneak peek, Notebook Italia shared their initial encounter with the enigmatic GP080MTL console from the Emdoor brand. This portable console comes with Windows 11 as its operating system and exhibits a familiar design akin to its contemporaries. The real game-changer is the processor it houses, which sets it apart. Featuring an Intel Meteor Lake-H processor with ARC Graphics 5, the GP080MTL promises a performance level that could potentially outshine existing AMD-based models.

This Intel processor, named the Core Ultra 100H, boasts a power range of 20W to 35W TDP (Thermal Design Power). The extent to which it can optimize its performance within these power limits remains to be seen.
While many details are still under wraps, the video showcasing the device was briefly available on YouTube before being taken down, presumably at Intel’s request. Nevertheless, the buzz generated by the glimpse has undoubtedly put Emdoor on the radar.
As for the official release date of this device, it is currently unknown. Given that Intel plans to launch the Meteor Lake processor officially in November, we may not see the Emdoor GP080MTL until the first quarter of 2024.

With Intel entering the scene, 2024 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the ultraportable console market. Competition between Intel and AMD will likely lead to more advanced and competitive products. This will benefit consumers by offering a wider range of choices with more features and, hopefully, competitive pricing.
The performance of AMD processors is exceptional, but the introduction of Intel as a formidable competitor will likely drive innovation and bring more powerful and exciting products to the market. All eyes are now on Intel’s Meteor Lake-H processor, and if the preliminary chip specifications are any indication, it may indeed be a game-changer in the ultraportable console arena.
