We use the mobile keyboard every day for practically everything, but above all for conversations, something that can cause the continuous suggestions of the keyboard to bother us. Fortunately, customization on Android also reaches this point and allows us to deactivate the keyboard suggestions with a few simple steps that we are going to explain to you.
Among the most popular keyboards and which are pre-installed on Android phones we come across the Google keyboard called Gboard and also with SwiftKey, although the latter does not allow us to remove the suggestions. The keyboard developer herself explains that SwiftKey’s predictions are an integral part of the experience and therefore cannot be removed in the latest versions of the keyboard. If we want to change the default keyboard in Android, we just need to follow a few simple steps.
As we show you in the images, the left corresponds to the Gboard suggestions and the right one corresponds to the SwiftKey suggestions . In both cases they occupy a part of the screen that we can prefer to occupy the space of the app or by the keyboard itself if we do not use these suggestions often. In the case of SwiftKey, we would only have the option to touch the small arrow to the left of the suggestions and hide the top bar of extra actions.
Remove suggestions on the Google keyboard
The process to follow to eliminate the suggestion strip on the mobile is simple. Once we make this change, the automatic predictions no longer appear in any application in which the keyboard is working, we do not have to repeat the step at home one of them. These are the steps to follow:
- We enter an application where we can use the keyboard.
- Then we play on the three points at the top of the keyboard.
- Among all the accesses that we will see, we will have to choose Settings.
- This will take us to more options, where we have to choose “Spell correction”.
- Inside the option called “Show strip of suggestions”, which we must deactivate so that they do not appear.
We can also discover only the suggestions of the next word, which allows us to continue to have access to the suggestions but they will not be based on the previous words that we have used. To return the suggestions to their original appearance, we have to enter the mobile Settings and go to the following path: System> Language and text input> On-screen keyboard> Gboard, to change the options.
