Within everything we do with our mobile, many users dedicate a large part of the on-screen display to reading. Whether it is a digital newspaper or electronic books, our eyes must get used to the brightness of the screen, something that sometimes is not entirely beneficial. Luckily, some mobiles, such as OnePlus, integrate a “Reading Mode” that adapts the screen to this specific need to make the experience of reading on the mobile much more pleasant.
Each brand’s customization layers are very different universes. Android provides a series of basic tools, which can be modified, removed or improved by manufacturers. OxygenOS is the OnePlus layer, which enjoys a good reputation among the users of the firm, whose improvements are often the fault of the contributions of the community itself.
What is it for?
The Reading Mode is designed for those who spend a good part of the day or night reading on their mobile. When activating, the terminal displays the screen in a gray scale that is ideal for reading more carefully and allowing your eyes to rest better. The idea is to turn the terminal into a kind of electronic book, although its function will never be able to match the electronic ink screens of eBooks.
How to activate it
From quick access
To activate the Reading Mode in OnePlus we will have two options. The first and possibly fastest, is to slide down the shortcuts bar. In the initial list we will not see the Reading Mode, so we will have to expand the selection by going down again with your finger. Now we just have to locate the Reading Mode icon and drag it to the top. Finally we will only have to click on the option to start seeing the screen in the new style of color suitable for reading.
From the settings menu
The second method is to go to the Settings menu and then tap on the screen settings. Once inside we will locate the Reading Mode. By tapping on the switch we can activate the function. However, within this menu we can also configure its automatic activation for certain applications. That is, if we are subscribed and have an application for reading electronic books such as Kindle or Google Play Books, Reading Mode will automatically start when we enter these applications.
