The OPPO Reno reaches its eighth iteration, and it does so as a high-end smartphone with all of the law. And it is not because of what we say based on its characteristics, it is that inside it hides one of the secret weapons of the brand’s flagships. We are talking about the Marisilicon X chip that, until now, we could only find in the models of the Find X5 family.
This NPU’s main objective is to help the user get perfect shots in any situation, something that is achieved both day and night with quite amazing results. To verify it first-hand, we have traveled half of Spain to approach the Mosque of Córdoba and test the phone’s triple camera in low light situations. And, of course, OPPO ‘s smartphone gets honors.

Designed for point and shoot
Just like its predecessors, the OPPO Reno 8 Pro boasts a unique design to appeal to consumers. The back of the phone has the same camera housing as the Find X5 Pro that seamlessly integrates with the rest of the phone’s back . But this is not designed Oslo to make the mobile look prettier, no. Going into detail on the cameras, the smartphone’s photographic system boasts the aforementioned Marisilicon X Image processor , helping a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a macro camera to take photos of tiny objects. There is also an LED ring that we can use as a flash and that gives the camera housing a rather distinguished look.

On the front is a 32 MP autofocus camera, which also captures 60% more light than previous Reno phones, which is especially useful when taking selfies at night.
And it is precisely when the light falls , the moment when the Marisilicon X chip and the main sensor of the phone unleash its full potential. This technology, more typical of the premium range than the high range , manages to enhance the performance of the camera in low light, both in still images and during video recording. This helps us to have a great natural color palette, lots of details and a nice HDR effect in the right environment, even if we are in dimly lit places.

Here we cannot forget the selective color tools of the video mode that we can also take advantage of to make camera captures. As you can see in the image above, we can choose to keep the image in black and white and keep the red tones (as is the case) but also the green or blue ones. This generates interesting effects, especially if we take photos of the sky or in the middle of nature.
Many times, to obtain acceptable results, many of us have to activate the Night Mode of our smartphones and wait 4 or 5 seconds without moving the phone so that the capture is as clear as possible. With the OPPO Reno 8 Pro it is not necessary. Even shooting automatically, the brand’s algorithms perfectly understand the amount of lighting we have in the scene and shoot accordingly, without forcing the dark areas or burning the brightest ones. All this in less than a second.

And we do not forget the portrait mode of the smartphone , as capable during the day as at night. Thanks to the union of the main sensor, which includes EIS stabilization, and the dedicated image NPU, Marisilicon, we managed to work with that speed of photography to obtain high-quality images where the main object will appear with greater clarity and maximum detail , at at the same time that we will also keep all the details of the background out of focus to our liking.

Quality night video
The brand has also ended up taking advantage of the Marisilicon X chip to improve the performance of 4K video recording with Ultra Night Mode . The colors are seen with good saturation, there is not too much noise and a high-quality low-light video is achieved.
In addition, the camera app itself allows us, both during and after the recording, to extract the frame that we like the most with very good quality. In this way we can record a video of whatever we want and not worry about pressing the capture button at all times. We can do it afterwards and get the best shot of our recording .
