One of the devices that are on the list of most desired products of 2020 is the Surface Duo . Microsoft presented its striking dual-screen phone last October, but unfortunately we will have to wait for much of the year to see it in stores. The mystery continues to surround this attractive device, but today, luckily, we can see some brushstrokes of what it can offer.
A new way to work with Android

The images that you can see next arrive thanks to the fact that Microsoft has launched an emulator so that developers can go messing with their ideas and future applications. Thus, they will be able to understand how the new double screen interface works and responds, allowing them to see the results and design new methods of interaction on the screen .
Here’s a quick look at some of the (unfinished) navigation gestures that are part of the Surface Duo. This build is pretty buggy, but still interesting to see. pic.twitter.com/Jra1xVfZl2

This, as we said, is within the reach of interested developers, such as Zac Bowden, who has begun to do his first tests with the software and has not hesitated to share the first video images through his Twitter account. In these images, we can see the transition effects that occur when moving a window from one side to another, which is similar to the effect produced by Android when we move from one page to another in the start menu, only in the In case of the Surface Duo we will handle two pages at the same time .

The best thing is that there is a designer, Jonas Daehnert, who has used Bowden’s video to create a very interesting video that simulates software execution on a Surface Duo, so we can see how exactly the new interface feels on the device .
How to download the Surface Duo SDK

The Surface Duo developer kit has a size of 620.40 MB and can be downloaded from now through the official Microsoft website (we leave the link below). At the moment the version available is that of Windows, but Microsoft will soon launch the downloadable so that macOS users can also make their first steps with the application.

In the official documentation of the SDK, many details are indicated that developers should take into account when creating applications. The main novelty will be to save the hinge, since the menus and screens should avoid at all costs the central “seam” to facilitate the user experience.
What features does the Surface Duo have?

At the moment the features of the Surface Duo remain a great mystery. The only thing we know about it is that the team will have two 5.6-inch screens with a resolution of 1,350 x 1800 pixels. It is said that inside it will mount a Snapdragon 855, but for now there is nothing confirmed, so we will have to wait for a new official announcement to know exactly how far this new Microsoft device will be able to reach.
