The first thing we usually do when we buy a computer, or install Windows from scratch, is to personalize our computer. We change the background, the icons, the colors and we place everything to our liking, as we feel more comfortable. And the truth is that Microsoft has not done a bad job of allowing you to customize Windows , although it is true that there are many functions that could be improved. And we hope that all, or at least some of them, can see them in 2021.
Currently, the customization options offered by the operating system are limited to changing the background, colors, theme and font. We can also customize other aspects of the system, such as the lock screen, the start or the taskbar, although the options in these aspects are already quite limited.
Windows 10 is constantly evolving. And therefore it would not be unreasonable to think that, in one of the next OS updates we will see some of the following news.
Live or dynamic wallpapers
Windows wallpapers have always been static. Whether it’s a photo, or a color, they don’t normally move or change. In this sense, mobile devices and macOS have been ahead of Windows. Its rival, without going any further, a few versions ago included a dynamic themes function that allows us to change the background automatically depending on the time of day we are. The same is the case with animated backgrounds, a function that many users have been waiting for, which could give a lot of play thanks to the Microsoft Store, but which has not yet officially arrived.
Although there are programs that allow us to do the same, we would like to see it natively in Windows 10. Microsoft is perfectly capable of it, what happens is that it does not want to.
Greater control over the start menu
The Windows start menu is one of the most criticized aspects of the operating system. And although Microsoft is improving it little by little, there are many things that leave much to be desired in it. Without going any further, the folders. This menu would gain hugely if you only showed the shows on it. However, this start menu also shows folders, uninstallers and even text files, very early 2000s, which only makes this tool dirty.
