The internal storage of our mobile depends largely on what we have spent on the device. Manufacturers offer different memory options and the price goes up as it grows. Luckily, this internal memory can grow on Android as long as we have a microSD card handy and our mobile has a slot for this type of expansion.
When we are going to buy a mobile that we like, if it has no option to insert a microSD card, it is preferable to launch for a higher storage option. However, those who can insert additional external storage have the option of converting it into more internal memory, thanks to Android allowing a format that will consider the microSD as such.
Differences between storage
The differences between portable storage and internal storage of our microSD card with clear and its objective responds to the needs of each user.
As portable storage
We can move the SD card and its files, such as photos or music, to another device, but we cannot move the applications to portable storage.
As internal storage
We can only store applications and data on the phone in question. If we move the SD card to another phone, the SD card will be deleted (that is, formatted). Once we have deleted the SD card, it can already be used on another phone.
Keep in mind that the use as internal storage (which is our goal) makes it impossible for memory to be used on another device to transfer files, unless we reformat it as an external device. In addition, before formatting, you should know that all data stored on the card will be deleted, so it is convenient to have a backup copy.
Convert microSD to internal storage
To be able to select our microSD card as internal storage we will have to go to the Settings / Storage menu and select SD Card. Then we click on the options icon and select “Storage Options”. Now click on “Format as internal” and then on “Delete and Format” . Now we must wait for the process to end and we must not remove the card or turn off the phone. In a few seconds the process will end and the internal storage of our mobile will have increased depending on the capacity of the inserted card.
Possible problem
There is a very common problem, and after formatting, Android could launch a warning message, after detecting that the card’s read and write speed is not fast enough. This could cause the loading of files and applications to be delayed. The options in this case are limited, since if we perceive that everything is going too slow, we will have to buy a microSD card with a higher read and write speed, such as class 10.
